What is SalesLucky.com?

This is a quick introduction to SalesLucky.com and its author, Tommy Jia.

SalesLucky is a blog designed to help aspiring sales people…

Or anyone who is interested in learning the philosophies, strategies, and tactics associated with sales and influence.

This is for anyone who is looking to get started in sales, or for anyone looking to sharpen their current skills.

I started this blog with the intention of sharing what’s real…

What’s worked for me…

And most importantly…

What I wish I had known when I started out in sales.

A lot of what is written about sales, particularly books from a couple decades ago…

No longer work in todays world.

I wrote this blog because I felt like so much of what is taught in sales is such bullshit.

It doesn’t work, or it feels phony, slimy, or out of integrity…

Basically the stuff the gives sales people a bad name.

This is why I created this blog…

Because I fundamentally believe in selling and influence.

I believe these are important skills…

And I believe to sell rightly is to do a good thing.

To sell in the right way, is to bring value to your customer.

Whether that customer is an actual customer, a boss, a potential business partner, a spouse, or a friend, you are always selling.

This blog is an effort to help others develop the skills and mindsets they need to be successful in sales.

Who is Tommy Jia?

I am professional B2B (business to business) salesperson, and an internet marketer.

I was born in Chengdu, China (home of spicy food and pandas) and have lived in Canada, US, and Colombia.

I didn’t start out being good at sales, far from it.

In fact, growing up I was shy and had a lot fear around social interactions.

I remember being so afraid that I used to be scared of asking the waiter for ketchup at restaurants.

Yeah, really.

But over the years I’ve developed myself, I’ve worked hard, and have been a student of sales and personal development.

I’ve grown since then… and I am not the same person I used to be.

I say this, because I know what it’s like.

I know what it’s like to be scared to make a cold call…

Only because when you do, you fall flat on your face and make a fool of yourself…

I know what it’s like to be scared to strike up a conversation… with that pretty girl you always see at the gym.

I know what it’s like to be called young and doubted by recruiters for every job interview I’ve had.

I know what it’s like to start out in sales… and be taught a bunch of bullshit preconceived notions that don’t feel right.

I know what it’s like.

But I also know what it’s like to have DEVELOPED these skills.

I also know what it’s like to be the youngest one hired in a large sales team and in a few years, become one of the top reps in that company.

I know what it’s like to make 6-figures by the age of 26.

I know what it’s like to take an area where I used to feel constant pain in…

And develop that into a strong skill set.

I know what it’s like to take an area that I wasn’t strong in… and turn that into a strength.

Now it’s a gift that I can share with others who want to improve their sales, communication, and influence skills.

I know because I’ve been through that journey.

I’ve been in sales for the better part of a decade now…

And have spent the last 5 years selling to professional buyers at Fortune 1000 companies.

Today I work in the Silicon Valley selling SaaS products, and help business owners and salespeople learn the art of sales.

I am also an internet marketer.

Some of my passions include traveling…

Having lived in multiple countries, I absolutely love experiencing different cultures.

I believe our differences are what make us unique, and they ought to be shared and valued.

I spent the last year of my life living and working remotely in Medellin, Colombia, which is by far, my favorite city in the world right now.

In addition to traveling, I like Latin Culture…

Bachata & Salsa dancing, spicy foods (food in general actually)…

Reggaeton and rap music.
