So in a previous post, I shared how we successfully did our first ever Saleslucky Mastermind!
And in that post, I touched on some things about what I do for my morning rituals.
This post will be an expanded version of that, as I dive deeper into each aspect of my morning ritual and explain why I do them, and the benefits of each one.
First of all…
Let’s explain what a morning ritual is.
Here I use the word “ritual,” but you can really use whatever term you feel.
Routine, habits, practices, whatever.
A morning ritual is the combination of daily habitual things you do every morning, whether you notice them or not.
A simple example of this would be brushing your teeth, hopping in the shower, etc. etc.
Or maybe getting a cup of coffee might fall into your morning ritual or routine.
Point is – whether you think you have a morning ritual or not… you have one.
You just might not be intentionally creating one.
For most of us, our habits have become unconscious for the most part – that’s why they are habits.
And here’s another question:
“Why are morning rituals important?”
Morning rituals and habits are important because I read recently that 40% of our actions we take every single day are out of habitual patterns.
Think about that – 40%!
Almost half of your life is on AUTOPILOT!
And since the results of our lives come from our habits, it’s fairly safe to say that whoever has the best habits… wins!
I’d just like to personally share that I’ve been doing these morning rituals more or less for about 7 years now.
And when I start off the day with accomplishing my morning rituals – it feels as if I’m already starting the day off with a WIN!
How good would it feel to start your day off every morning with a win?
What kind of momentum would that bring to your life?
What kind of impact would that have on your career, family, and loved ones?
How much better of a leader would you be? And how much better would you show up in the world for your family and friends?
Hopefully, these questions will help spark the answers for yourself so you can develop your own morning rituals to help support you in creating the life of your dreams.
So without further ado – here are my morning rituals:
The first thing I do when I wake up is to PRAY.
I give thanks to God for everything and everyone I’m grateful for in my life.
Then I give thanks for everything and everyone that I want to be in my life. Things and experiences that I’d like to experience and I give thanks and visualize them as if they are already here.
(I use the word God here. Sometimes I substitute the word Infinite Intelligence, Mother Nature, Divine Presence, the Universe – whatever you want to call it. This is obviously very personal and we all have the right to believe what we choose to believe)
I mentioned this in the previous post, but this is something I learned from David Deida.
He tells us that as adult humans—most of us have forgotten how to breathe properly.
Probably due to a sedentary lifestyle, sitting in front of a computer all day, and the added stress of modern life.
If you look at babies, you’ll notice that they breathe into their belly. They do deep belly breathing.
Their belly goes up and down when they breathe.
Musicians also understand this.
They have to maximize the use of their lungs, so they’ve been trained to breathe properly.
For most of us, however, this is a skill that we must relearn.
Almost sounds silly, doesn’t it? To learn how to breathe.
But it’s true!
I remember David said that if we can just learn to breathe properly, this can change your entire life.
The problem is that when most of us take a deep breath, we lift our shoulders up and only fill up the top 1/2 to 2/3rds of our lungs.
This leaves another 1/3rd or 1/2 completely unused! What a waste of good real estate!
So the deep breathing practice I do is this (and you can practice any you’d like, I’m sure you’ll find many on Google if you’ll just search ‘deep belly breathing techniques’):
- As I’m lying in bed face up, I’ll first breathe deeply into my lower belly.
- I will first fill up my lower belly, then mid-belly, then upper chest
- Then as I let the air out, I let out the air in the opposite direction – first from my upper chest, then my mid-belly, and then I’ll let out the air from my lower belly last
So as I breathe in, I fill up my: lower belly, mid-belly then chest
And as I breathe out, I exhale letting out the air from my chest, mid-belly, then lower belly.
The result of this is that I’m much calmer throughout the day, as well as the present.
Being able to breathe properly also helps regulate my nerves and keeps me calm in certain sales situations.
Next, I’ll do a 10-minute meditation.
Nothing fancy, I’ll just sit up straight… and feel my body, emotions, and any tingling sensations in my body for ten minutes.
I might also focus on my breath, listen to the birds chirping in the background, or anything that will help bring me to the present moment.
I might even just notice the thoughts popping up in my mind without holding on to them.
There are so many benefits to meditation—it’s insane.
Just to name some of the benefits of mediation…
It’s helped me to become more aware of myself & my emotions.
If you’re in sales you know how important it is to manage your own state and emotions.
It’s also helped me to modulate my energy and enthusiasm—which is also absolutely ESSENTIAL in sales.
Overall, it’s helped me become more aware of myself and take appropriate action from a place of centeredness...
…rather than reacting emotionally to things outside of myself.
Meditation has been a huge key in my own personal growth.
Next, I’ll spend a few minutes thinking of all the things, people, experiences that I’m GRATEFUL for in my life.
I’ll literally put myself back in that exact moment of when I was reliving that experience to feel it fully.
I can’t stress how important it is to fill ourselves up with gratitude each day.
Especially in a time like this – when there is so much uncertainty around us.
And especially if you work in sales or run your own business! You understand how much stress there can be at times.
By filling ourselves up with gratitude, it takes away all that stress.
It puts us in a beautiful state!
…and when we are in a beautiful state, we are able to find solutions to our questions much more effectively.
Not to mention that we’ll be able to move through life that much more effectively!
This is just as important if not more than gratitude.
Think about this for a moment…
Take a look around you… go ahead, actually take a look at everything around you.
The chair you might be sitting on, the house or building you’re standing in,
Whatever objects around you… understand that EVERYTHING once started as a figment of someone’s imagination.
We are the creators of our world.
We are not just the “managers of our circumstances,” we are literally the creators of our world.
A while ago, I heard the concept of being the main character in your own life’s movie.
Are you the main character in YOUR life’s movie?
If you answered yes, AWESOME!
If you answered no or maybe… well here’s a surefire way for you to create more in your life:
We call it MANIFESTING.
Spend some time every morning to close your eyes and visualize what you want to create in this world.
What do you want your life to look like 10 years from now?
15 years from now? 5 years from now?
Who would you be?
Who do you have in your life? Is it a romantic partner?
Or a business partnership?
Or perhaps you’re the VP of sales in a comapny.
Or perhaps you’ve achieved your dream home and created your dream life.
What do those things look like? Smell like? Feel like? Sound like?
Whatever it is, one thing is for sure – you must create the reality you want in your own mind before you can create it in the outside world.
I’m reminded of a story about Walt Disney.
I believe Walt Disney passed away before Disney World became the world’s greatest and most famous theme park.
As a result, someone once said…
“It’s a shame that Walt Disney never got to see this happen…”
And the person standing next to him replied…
“You’re wrong, Walt Disney saw this in his own mind before anyone else, that’s WHY this place exists”
That’s powerful stuff right there.
A powerful exercise I learned from Ryan Stewman of HardcoreCloser.com is a visualization of the “most elite” form of yourself.
Go ahead and read this then close your eyes and visualize this…
What would the most ELITE version of yourself look like?
How would that person’s body look? How sculpted would that person’s physique be?
What kind of vibes and energy would the most ELITE version of yourself be giving off?
What kind of people would the most ELITE version of you be attracting into your life?
What kind of a mate would the most ELITE version of you attract?
What kind of friends and ELITE performing crew would you be rolling with?
What kind of house, estate, penthouse, or mansion would the most ELITE version of you be living in?
Visualize the details.
What kind of car would the most ELITE version of you be driving?
How would he or she be carrying themselves as they walk into the room?
What kind of vibe and aura would that person be putting off?
Perhaps everyone’s heads would turn when that person walks in.
How would the most ELITE version of you carry themselves? How would they look and treat others?
What kind of contribution would the most ELITE version of you provide for your community, loved ones, and the world?
What kind of gifts would the most ELITE version of you be giving to others consistently?
How would that person show up?
I hope you had a chance to close your eyes and really see and feel that person—and really live as that person.
Let me tell you:
The mind CANNOT tell the difference between what’s imagined and what’s real.
If you imagine your ideal life and vision with enough detail and enough times…
You will begin to notice the things, people, and places in your life that will help you achieve where you want to go that much faster.
It’s called the RAS (reticular activating system).
This thing is like pure magic.
It’s what essentially allows us to manifest our own destinies.
So there you go!
I hope you found this post valuable, as I’ve shared some of my most intimate morning rituals that have shaped who I am today.
I am absolutely confident that I will continue to practice these rituals until I am the most ELITE version of myself.
I wish you lots of love and blessings for you on your journey to becoming the most ELITE version of you!
